Abstract: A survey of eating habits was conducted on the elderly persons living alone using the questionnaire and compared with those of persons living with their family. The result obtained are as follows : 1) Boild rice is the most frequently served diet for lunch and supper in both cases. Bread is served more frequently than boiled rice for breakfast. 2) For most kind of foods, serving frequencies were lower in elderly people living alone than those in people living with their family. 3) The intake of energy, protein and iron was significantly lower in people living than alone that of people living with their family, which is related to their lower intake of beans and vegitables. 4) The intake of iron is lower than "Recommended Dietary Allowance" in both cases.
