Abstract

The purpose of this study is to clarify how to open the private house voluntarily as a communication space for elderly people and children living in neighborhood. Through the investigations of floor plans and the interviews for 26 private houses in Kansai area, the basic patterns are classified by focusing on the programs and participants. It was comprehended the way to coexists private area for family and open area for visiting people, it is important to consider the exclusive room for community, flow planning from the entrance. Incase there are vacant rooms such as ex-children’s room, guest room, tatami-room, it is preferable to provide an exclusive room for the communicateion with neighborhood.
