震災、そして五年語るべき芸術

Abstract

阪神淡路大震災から五年、私たちは何を体験し、いかに耐え、悲しみ、今どこに居るのだろうか。震災後しばらく、もうりっぱな家具や高価な食器には関心はなくなったとか、土地所有のはかなさを感じるとか、ゆとりや優しさを大切にしようといった会話がかわされ、世相が変わると予測する人さえいた。本当にそうだったのか、何が変わり、何が不変だったのか。

Five years has passed since we had the big Hanshin Earthquake. In the meantime, what have we experienced, how could we have endured, how have we sorrowed, and now where are we? Some time after the Earthquake, we could hear people said to lose interest for luxurious furniture and delicate dishware, and to feel vanity for their property such as land, and that they should take importance on relaxed life and kindness. Someone had even expected for the drastic change of the society. Was it true? What had changed, and what has been retained?
