Abstract: In order to improve the quality of life (QOL) of elderly people, their mental and physical conditions need to be healthy. Many elderly people who participated in this study were of good mental health. They worked in the garden or fields almost every day. From these findings, it was suggested that these kinds of activities minimize decreases in physical strength associated with aging and help to maintain stable mental health. In the experiments of the present study, it was confirmed that the distance of a 6-minute walk, as an indicator of physical strength, contributes significantly to the number of steps and amount of energy metabolized per day, as indicators of daily activity rather than the age of elderly people. It is important to incorporate moderate walking and activity into daily living to maintain physical strength. In conclusion, it is important for elderly people to join a club, participate in an activity, and join other events in their favorite clothing, without staying at home, to retain a sound mind and body through interactions with people in the community.
